All call lists

Every call list this hospital runs. Each one has its own people, its own rules and its own year; this is only the state of them.

Who works what

"Should have" is each person's fair share, adjusted for part-time and for what they carried over from last year. Green means they're close to it.

Anything worth knowing

    Show the maths

How hard each rule had to work. Lower is better; zero means that rule came out perfect.

    People

Set how each person likes to work. Everything past the basics is tucked under Options.

    Time off

This is what replaces asking everyone what days they want off next year. Send each person their own link from the People tab. Approving writes it onto their rules straight away.

    Add time off for someone

    Swaps

When someone asks a colleague to take a day. Checked when it's asked for and again when you approve it, so a swap can never break someone's time off.

    Dates

    What needs covering

Usually just "On Call". Add another for backup call, or set the days so something only runs at weekends.

    Holidays

The six ticked as Big one are the ones people actually argue over. They get balanced separately, and tracked across years.

    House rules

The things that are true of this whole call list rather than one person.

    Saved schedules

Building a new one never overwrites what the office is working from. Publish the one that's live. That is what the calendar feed hands out.

    Call lists

One install runs as many call lists as the hospital has: OR, NICU, 911, anaesthesia, whatever is on the wall. Each keeps its own people, its own rules and its own schedules, and nothing crosses between them.

    Demo data

Creates a separate "Demo Practice" with nine people who all want different things: fixed weekday patterns, part time, a holiday cap, someone on leave, a weekend-only backup duty. Plus a schedule already built and requests waiting. Between them they use every setting the app has, so you can see each rule doing something before entering anything real. Clearing it only removes demo call lists; your own are never touched.

    Fine tuning

Most offices never touch these. Every one is a preference the schedule tries to satisfy. Drag one up and it gets more say than the others.

    Adjust what matters most
    Rules that are never broken
    • Approved time off, never scheduled over.
    • Only these days: someone on a fixed weekday pattern gets no other day.
    • Holiday limits: a person's cap on the big holidays.
    • One thing at a time: nobody covers two duties on one day, unless House rules says they can.
    • Most days in a row, per person.
    • Pinned days survive a rebuild untouched.
    • Every day covered, or it stops and tells you exactly which day it couldn't fill, and why.
